MCRC receives Institute of Museum and Library Services Grant

July 14, 2017 by Keely Parker

The Makah Cultural and Research Center’s (MCRC) Archives/Library Department received a grant titled, Tribal Memories, from the Institute of Museum and Library Service (IMLS) Native American/Native Hawaiian Museum Services Program for $44,111. The Tribal Memories Grant will fund the digitization of at least 400 photographs important to the tribe and digitally restore at least 200 images. Quarterly Photo Nights at the Museum will provide a forum for community members to share their traditional knowledge, memories and stories with others as they view the digital images. This project will also fund photograph preservation consultation to community members to ensure important tribal resources are being preserved.
